can anyone help me out with softball?

Veta Slicker: a local school or go to a pizza parlor because many have softball teams

Freddy Shutler: Start with the Parks and Recreation department. The Parks and Rec often organize and oversee the leagues. You may need to be 18 to play without parental consent. You may need to be 18 to play period. Now depending on where you live this is how you go about getting on a team.First, determine your skill level. Since you have never played for a team before then you should focus on the lower level teams. Leagues are usually divided as follows:A and B leagues are for experienced players who are good at the game. Usually these people played Little League, High school, and maybe College ball. C leagues are for people who probably played high school baseball/softball. These players are usually good at the game but not quite at the level to play higher up. But, some are.D leaguers tend to be lower skilled players, beginners, and people who maybe played little league m! any years ago and never stuck with it.I would focus on the D league teams. At a minimum you should know how to throw, field, hit, and play at least one defensive position with competence. If you have never ever picked up a ball, glove and bat, then getting on a team may be very hard even at the D level. Two of my sisters never every played organized softball in their lives and they got on D league teams. But they understood the basics of the game. So getting to the details of getting on a team:1. Your Parks and Rec league may have a list you can add your name too. You fill out some basic information about yourself. When a team needs a player they will contact you for a tryout.2. You could run an ad on Craigslist. But that is a long shot.3. How about going to a game, watching the game and then approaching the coach/manager and inquiring about how to get on a team?4. Do you know people who play league softball such as friends, neighbors, coworkers, fellow students! , teachers? Ask the people you know. They might play on a te! am and can help you. They might know someone who plays on a team who can help you.All in all I think D level or lower is your best bet. Go for it. Playing on a team is fun. It is good physical fitness. There are a lot of different directions a team can go. They can be a casual squad that plays one game a week or a seriously competitive team that plays league night plus weekend tournaments. Now if you have to be 18 then how about getting on a team so you can practice and improve. When you turn 18 then you can officially play. It never hurts to practice and learn. Teams often play practice games against other teams and scrimmage too....Show more
