Do i have to pay Taxes on my online gambling winnings?

Chet Nozick: Yeah.

Rose Krouse: The taxman always cometh.Yes you will have to pay taxes on gambling income but you can deduct gambling losses from your gambling income which is why there's a market for losing scratchoff tickets. If you bought a losing $20 scratch-off ticket for 50 cents, it's still a $20 deduction on your taxes possibly saving you $6 to $7 but only if you have gambling winnings to deduct from. With online funds, it's when you withdraw not when you win. The IRS recognizes that virtual money isn't money. That ruling may change now that real banks are establishing virtual presences in second life and other online environments and many are associating the virtual money directly to a real world credit card....Show more

Rana Rudell: 1

Rashad Marecki: You are supposed to pay taxes on any form of income, and gambling winnings fall in that category....some people will try to not pay, but risk a chance of an audit

Marty Tichnell: If you! r American the answer is yes your are supposed to pay on anything considered income, which someone has already iterated. If you pay attention to where you sign up (online) to gamble, you will see that most of the sites are offshore, If I think I know what your asking, that should answer your question.

Luke Gacusan: Absolutely, but if you lose you cannot deduct that from other income you have. So if you gamble today and win a thousand dollars and go back tomorrow and lose six hundred you are only required to report winnings of four hundred to the IRS at tax time and by that time you might be in the hole a couple of thousand with nothing to report.
